HeartMath offers a series of techniques to reduce stress an alignement between our heart, mind and emotions. This is done with through breathing, enhanced heart-coherence and cultivating regenerative emotions like care, compassion and appreciation. The techniques have been created after extensive research by the Heartmath Institute. These reseach have shown that negative emotions create disorganised heart rhythms. Positive emotions on the other hand “tend to increase balance in the nervous system and produce smooth harmonious heart rhythms” (Childre and Martin1999)
I have found these techniques very useful in my work with clients to help them monitor and reduce their stress levels. In the sessions, I use a phone application and a sensor to teach and monitor clients progress.
